Communicate state with a small animation
Start with a subtle pulse and learn keyframes without obscuring gameplay
Choose the message of the animation
The medic subtle idle pulse makes a support unit easier to spot, it does not implement repair logic, test visuals and gameplay effects separately
Start with two keyframes
body_0s is the starting value and body_1s is the value one second later, scale changes from 1 to 1.05 and pingPong reverses the motion, subtle scaling keeps the silhouette stable
[animation_beacon]
onActions: idle
pingPong: true
body_0s: {scale:1}
body_1s: {scale:1.05}Leave padding for motion
For a future sprite-sheet animation, use equal-sized cells and keep the center aligned, this sample uses one PNG frame and does not require a sheet for its scale pulse
Check readability at actual scale
Observe one medic and a group of ten, large scaling and rapid pulses can distract from combat, check selection markers, team recognition and nearby silhouettes
Try it yourself
Compare 1.03 and 1.10 scaling and choose the clearer option in a squad scene
